My journey to becoming a Chiropractor began in San Francisco where I was training to become a professional modern dancer after earning a BFA in dance performance and choreography for Arizona State University.
A neck injury lead me to Dr. Claudia Ross, a Chiropractor whose help kept me going for awhile but it became evident my injury was too significant to stand the rigors of professional dancing. My experience with Dr.Ross lead me to becoming a Chiropractor myself and so the journey began. Dr. Wood-Schade received her Chiropractic degree from Southern California University of Health Sciences formerly known as Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1989.
Working as a healthcare professional in Aliso Viejo the last 20 years, I have been chosen to travel as a team doctor with the US National Triathlon team for world championships (USAT) numerous times and have been teaching Balanced Body style Pilates both for health/fitness and exercise rehabilitation the past 12 years. I was also a team doctor for Westcoast Futbol Club.
Recently I incorporated a new fitness regime also from Balanced Body called Core Align. Core Align equipment was designed by Jonathon Hoffman an Israeli Physical Therapist as a therapy tool. His clients loved so much they continued using the Core Align for fitness – it is part cardio, part balance, part strength and totally functional and fun.
After twenty years working in the healthcare industry, I began to see more and more that there was a need to educate people on body awareness, posture and good movement patterns. The need to restore or maintain our flexibility/mobility becomes increasingly more important as we age. Without flexibility or mobility we will have more and more difficulty maintaining balance and strength.
I continue to expand my knowledge base learning a variety a treatment techniques to better serve my clientele. Currently I am studying Bowen Therapy which is a gentle and safe soft tissue manipulation technique and incorporating Scenar therapy which is a radio-frequency devise , FDA approved for pain relief and neuromuscular re-education and is relatively new to this country.
